The company/firm/organisation may select any five employees/representatives to attend any HILA function at a discounted rate if a discounted rate has been advertised. For the avoidance of doubt, it is not necessary that the same five employees/representatives attend each HILA function.

With regards to voting, a corporate member is entitled to five votes.

Any university which has purchased a corporate membership is further entitled to apply for a special add-on membership for its students. This add-on membership entitles such students to a discount of 10% off the standard rate of each HILA function, or on the discounted rate where one has been advertised. This add-on membership does not confer on university members any voting rights in addition to those it holds under its corporate membership (further details of this add-on membership are available upon enquiry).

Prescribed Fees
I/we acknowledge that HILA may from time to time change the amount of the prescribed fees. The prescribed fees which apply for the time being for 2019/2020 are as follows:

Terms & Conditions
I/we hereby apply for membership of HILA and enclose payment of the prescribed fee by way of a cheque payable to the “Hong Kong Insurance Law Association Limited”, or have transferred payment of the prescribed fee to the bank account of HILA having obtained HILA’s agreement to this alternative method of payment in advance of the submission of this Membership Application Form. I/we understand that I/we will not become a HILA member or be entitled to any benefits of HILA membership until HILA conveys to me/us its approval of my/our membership. I/we understand that membership of HILA is annual, and each membership period is from 1 November to 31 October of the following year ("Membership Year"). I/we understand that the prescribed fee is payable for each Membership Year in which I wish to be a member.

I/We understand that the discounted rate for attendance at HILA functions (where one is advertised) will only apply to me individually, as an individual member or individual student member, or apply to any 5 employees/representatives elected by the company/firm/organisation to attend the particular HILA function, as a corporate member.

I/we understand that once payment has been received by HILA in respect of function attendance fees, a refund will only be issued for cancellation where notice of cancellation is received by HILA no less than 7 days prior to the function and that a credit note will be issued where notice of cancellation has been received by HILA no less than 3 days prior to the function. I/we understand that HILA will not be able to issue a refund or credit note thereafter on account of the fact that costs will have already been incurred. In addition, I/we understand that HILA may occasionally impose stricter conditions in respect of cancellations for a particular function and that it is my/our responsibility to make enquiries as to whether stricter conditions have been imposed. I/we agree, if approved for membership, to abide by and support the objects, articles and rules of HILA.

Personal Data
The above information will be used in accordance with the aims and objects of HILA as set out in the Memorandum and Articles of Association (see: www.hila.com.hk) for the purpose of processing your membership application and contacting you in relation to your membership. You are not obliged to provide your personal information but not doing so may mean that HILA cannot process your membership application.

We may require the information to be passed to and used by our third party service providers who provide IT and administrative support and to our corporate secretary for the purposes of processing your membership application and contacting you in relation to your membership. We will inform you in writing and seek your written consent before transferring your personal data to any other third parties.

You may request access to or correction of your personal data held by HILA, by contacting our corporate secretary, Clarson Services Ltd of 18th Floor, Edinburgh Tower, The Landmark, 15 Queen's Road Central, Hong Kong or contacting Susana Lo of the HILA Secretariat (Tel: 3405 2546 / Email: secretariat@hila.com.hk). HILA will not retain any of your personal information longer than is necessary to achieve the purpose for which it was collected.

We would also like to use your name, address, email address and telephone number to ring you or send you emails or articles informing you about our educational and social activities and to invite you to functions related to or sponsored by HILA. Provided you do not object to us doing so we may also provide this information to other organisations that we are involved with in order to inform you of upcoming jointly hosted functions or their own insurance industry publications and activities.

We cannot use your information for direct marketing purposes if you object. If you do not wish HILA to use your personal data for use in direct marketing, or to pass your information to third parties for the purposes of direct marketing, please indicate your objection by ticking the boxes below.
